Tours & Festivals

We have much planned for 2011-12, but cannot release all the details just yet!  Please look over this page and see what our choirs were able to experience last year.

Many exciting tours and festivals are planned for the spring, and you won’t want to miss out on any these great opportunities.   If you are currently facing financial hardship, tour assistance may be available.  Please read the Tour Assistance Criteria and fill out the Tour Assistance Application if eligible.

Further, detailed itineraries for each trip (Chicago, San Diego, and Las Vegas) will be updated on the website and in the weekly Vocalize as they get closer.  For now, here are some of the details we know:

ACDA Conference Chicago ~ Wednesday, March 9th to
Friday, March 11th:
The ITINERARY & WAIVER for the upcoming Chicago trip is now available.  Please download your copy and return the waiver and the TRIP INFORMATION AND EXPECTATIONS forms by Friday,
March 4th.

TRAVEL ~
All students and chaperones must meet outside the American Airlines terminal at the John Wayne airport by 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, 3/9.   Ms. Risling will be there to provide direction and ticket information.  BE ON TIME!!!  Also, please remember that you must pick up your student promptly at John Wayne Airport on Friday, 3/11 evening.  (Flight 1677 arrives at 9:05 pm)

LUGGAGE ~
All Students will travel with their garment bag and concert attire in pristine condition for these performances!  All items should be well-pressed, cleaned, and collected so that there are no “bad” surprises once they arrive in Chicago.  A small carry-on bag may also be brought for items such as a book, ipod, etc.  A medium-sized suitcase (preferably with wheels) will be checked on the airplane and should contain any liquids!

MONEY ~
Students should bring approximately $25 for incidentals, including train fare once in the city.  All other expenses are paid and no extra cash is needed.  Of course, you are always welcome to bring money for souvenirs, extra food, snacks, etc.

San Diego ALL CHOIRS Tour ~  Friday, April 1st to Saturday,
April 2nd:
Originally planned for only a select few choirs, Mr. Tison has decided to take ALL our students (6 different performing choirs) to an overnight festival in San Diego.  In his 9 years of teaching, he has led this trip to San Diego each year and the students love it!  It will involve bus transportation, hotel in San Diego, dinner in Old Towne, music festival (each group performing and receiving adjudication), full-day admission to Sea World, private shows, buffet dinner, awards ceremony and dance (all in Sea World)!  Groups travel to beautiful, sunny Southern California from all over the country to this festival, and it is quite competitive.  His desire this year is to take ALL of our incredibly strong groups and go down and conquer this competition!  It is a very fun trip, great food, great “bonding” for all the students and a very accessible and affordable location!  He hopes to take all 180+ of our students, so we will need a TON of parent chaperones (approximately 20)!  Depart on Friday around 10:30 – return by midnight on Saturday night!  PLEASE LET Mr. Tison KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CHAPERONING! Cost is $265 per person – all- inclusive!  Download the ITINERARY for tour details and the WAIVER to fill out and turn in prior to departure.

Las Vegas Concert Choir Tour ~ Thursday, April 14th to Monday, April 18th:
This trip will begin with heading to the Vegas area and potentially doing an exchange with a local high school choir program and doing home stays that night with that school.  We will also compete in the Heritage Festival in Vegas (CC, TB, BT) and enjoy some activities in the area, including a great buffet dinner and a spectacular (and appropriate) Vegas show!  The trip will conclude with a “desert adventure” for everyone which will involve the Hoover Dam….very adventurous and memorable (and a great workout)!!  :)  Trip will include all meals, bus transportation (2 busses), music festival and a variety of other activities. Approximately 8-10 CHAPERONES will be needed!! Final pricing will be coming soon and billing will continue in January (deposits have already been paid).  A fun and unique trip with the best of our singers!
